I LOVE Commissions

Commissions stretch my creativity in a good way, collaborative and problem-solving throughout the journey. I enjoy working with people to synthesize their life stories and bring their inner visions to fruition.

In my time in Ontario, I created a new outlet for my watercolour paintings. I developed a montage that I called “portraits.” For my clients, I would work out a series of images that spoke to their own lives and set them into a significant background. We worked together through an interview, and then I developed a drawing for their approval. Once this was done, I would create the painting.

Over the years, commissions have continued to challenge me. Clients have included friends and family and contacts I’ve made through galleries, media, and word of mouth.

I have received many projects in my preferred medium, painting on silk. The largest of these, measuring thirty feet, hangs in Yucalta House in Campbell River, B.C.

Given good communication and a collaborative vision, anything is possible.
